Scavenger Hunt for Kids
Skip and I throw a Scavenger Hunt every year, and each year everyone has a blast. Last year, a friend of ours asked if we could help them throw one for their son’s 12th birthday. By changing a couple of the rules, we were able to come up with a super fun party theme and way for kids to spend the afternoon.
In the “younger version” we drove the kids to a mall (but you can pick any place where kids can safely walk around and there’s lots of action), split them into teams of four (plus one adult), and turned them loose. For the next two hours, they were searching for everything from a plastic fork to a penny with the birthday boy’s birth year on it.
We had made up a list of fun items that the kids could search for without being a nuisance to the other shoppers and store clerks. However we were pleasantly surprised how enthusiastic most people were to help our little hunters.
At the end of the two hours, the kids all got together and we added everything up to see which team found the most items. The best part of this game is that when all the kids regrouped, they had so many funny stories to share with each other while they ate cake and ice cream. A party theme and game all rolled into one!!
If you want any help with making your list, drop us a line and let us know!
